Purpose to Photography: Africa and Mural Project Preview

Africa

I thought that the PowerPoint was really pretty. I liked the photos a lot.

This photo was my favorite because I liked how it looks like the elephants
are in a line and they all look the same.
This photo kind of shows the rule of thirds because the front elephant is
not in the middle.

Photographer: Nick Brandt
The kind of camera he uses is a Pentax 67II with only two fixed lenses.
His reason for taking these photos is because one of his goals is recording a last testament to the wild animals and places there before they are destroyed by the hands of man.
His hope by taking these types of photos is that people realize the beautiful creatures we have in this planet and that they so something different to prevent their extinction.
"You wouldn't take a portrait of a human being from a hundred feet away and expect to capture their spirit; you'd move in closer." -Nick Brandt.

Mural Project Preview

1.) A theme we could use here at school to make a mural that tells a unique Akins story would be how students in Akins are and what they like to do for fun or like art.
2.) This theme is worth devoting time and effort to capture because students will like it and pay attention to it. Other students could care about this theme because they will find them interesting.
3.) The advantages to using a phone camera to do this project is that when we don't have the SLR camera available for use, we can just pull out our phone, the disadvantages are that the phone cameras might not come out as focused as they should.
4.) The advantages to using an SLR camera is that the photos will come out really good and focused, the disadvantages are that they aren't always available to us for use.
5.) We should use both, SLR cameras and our phone cameras because we don't know when we will need to take pictures and we need available cameras all the time.
